Where there is a route of travel underneath escalators or moving walkways that are on an incline, it’s essential to ensure that a person can’t accidentally bump into the underside of these amenities.

The space underneath the escalator or moving walkway should be at least 2,030 mm high from the finished walking surface. If this isn’t possible, install architectural detailing, plants or guardrails that can be detected by people who use long canes or guide dogs.
